ACM: Where It Came From And Where It's Headed

By Bob Oliver

There are many businesses that offer security seals, but American Casting and Manufacturing is one of the most enduring. As a matter of fact, one can argue that this speaks to the longevity of the seals in question, not to mention how often they're used today. After all, when valuable goods are transported, these items can be used to secure them. Here is what you should know about the origins and future plans of the business in question.

American Casting & Manufacturing was established in 1916 by Norman B. Wenk and Henry L.C. Wenk Jr. Together, the two brothers created a company that would help the construction industry, especially during the early 20th century when said industry saw tremendous growth. While their company is known for seals, they offered many other products over the years. In fact, if you were to request such items as custom castings and stampings, they'd have you covered.

Like with any prospering company, ACM saw different transitions throughout its life as well. Since its inception, the company operated out of Brooklyn, which was where its first products were created and distributed. By 1961, however, they were starting to move out of this city and into Plainview, staying in New York. This move provided them with a larger facility that was needed in order to manufacture additional products.

Not only did ACM's growth allow the company to move into a larger facility, but account for safety requirements and regulations as they changed over the years. To continually build upon seal technology, they would have to account for all industries from cash handling and utilities to food, beverage, and chemical processing. Needless to say, there is much to consider when ensuring safety. By doing so, however, better-quality products are able to be created.

The history of ACM is nothing short of rich, but the future of the company is just as important, if not more so. The company intends on continually manufacturing the products they've become known for, security seals included. For this to be done, however, the company must build and evolve in a number of ways. This can be done by training new employees on such topics as safety and manufacturing. Additionally, research must be invested in so that seals become better. The moving parts of ACM are numerous, each with its own level of importance.
