Document Cloud Really Looks Like An Exciting Proposition

By Loris F. Anders

Having your documents available everywhere is always nice. The Document Cloud was created to help journalists with their searching and publishing of documents that are used in the reporting business. It is not only used by journalists but also by researchers and archivists. Each person that used this can contribute so that others might be able to use the information as well.

It runs all the documents that one has uploaded through Open Calais. Many might know this as Web 2.0, Web 3.0, Giant Global Graph and Semantic Web. This allows access to all information about different places, people and even organizations. If there are any dates mentioned one is able to make a timeline with them for easier access. If any documents about a specific story are added this is a way to discover what else has been said including the original report.

In order to publish an individual document one can download a standalone copy or even make a copy and paste an embedded code for that specific document. It is strongly advised that all codes are linked back. It is not a very difficult progress but one will need to be familiar with HTML.

When one is working on this network everything will remain private for as long as one wishes. Once it is shared it will then be another in the thousands of other important documents. These can then be viewed in the public catalog. Reporters and any public person will then be able to find those documents and this will lead them back to what one had written. Many documents such as court filings, legislations, memos, reports and meeting minutes are stored in the catalogue.

Another member is John Bracken and has over 12 years of experience as being a humanitarian investor in media policy, digital media and innovation. Before overseeing the Knights News Challenge and Prototype Fund he worked at the Ford Foundation. He has a master's degree for communications as well as a BA from Pitzer College.

This online storage has in the past been expensive to use but over the last few years the price has come down and in some cases can be used for free. This is now used to store photos, videos and music just to name a few. The sizes are getting larger and larger as most photos that are now uploaded use 18 megapixels and blue ray movies have come about.

This will ensure that all information that is typed down will remain private until such a time as when it is ready to be shared. The amount of space is unlimited. This is where one can keep changing documents until they are ready to be published.
