Talking Of Guidelines For A Debt Collection Agency

By Robert Sutter

I believe that there are a number of rules to consider when it comes to a debt collection agency. Each of them is going to come into play in order to take care of any debt-related case that comes about. That being said, what are some of the most vital rules that you can take into account, you may wonder? There are a number to take into account but, in my opinion, these are the rules for such an agency to follow that stood out most to me.

I think that anyone in a debt collection agency is going to be able to agree with how vital communication is. This is stated in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act as well, which details that collectors can only stay in touch with debtors between the hours of 8 AM to 9 PM. The fact that this rule is set in place - and followed, to boot - goes to show just how important this line of work truly is. It also details the amount of trust that is given to agencies the likes of Rapid Recovery.

It's apparent that there are a number of rules to take into consideration when talking about communication, too. It's not difficult to see what the most typical methods are on the matter, phone calls arguably being some of the most reliable. The FDCPA states, though, that collectors are not to put professional means to use. For example, postcards are not to be utilized since they are not viewed in the same vein as telephone, email, and other means that have been used for years.

It's apparent that communication is going to be seen at a high level but what if there is a request for it to be stopped? Outside of litigation purposes, of course, a debtor can theoretically state that he or she does not want a collector to stay in contact. If this request is not honored, it goes against the various rules spoken about in the FDCPA. If it is followed, though, there is no question that the agency in question is going to prove to be that much greater.

When it comes to the work of a debt collection agency, it's clear that there are many other rules to follow. Each of them is important, as they are able to play into the strongest results seen in the long term. The question of which rule is the most important, though, is subjective and everyone is going to pick out a different one. In my mind, though, each of them play into the highest quality of work that is put forth by an agency of this caliber.
