5 Steps To Making A Video

By Rose Marie D'Amico

Want to know how to create do-it-yourself marketing videos for your business?

Today, it's a bit easier.

So whether you are an online entrepreneur, local business owner, author or coach, you can start making quick and easy videos with these simple steps.

First, you need to identify the OBJECTIVE of your video. What's the point or goal? What are you measuring? Traffic? Leads?

What do you want to accomplish? Identify this first, and it will become much easier to make your video a reality.

Step #2: Script it.

Turning the camera on and "winging it" is a scary option. It will most likely leave you with a long, rambling version of a video that most people will click off and avoid. Not good. That's why step #2 is to take a moment to plan and script your video. Be concise and keep your video short.

Now that you know WHAT you want to say in your video, it's time to film it. Any camera will do...as long as it's HD quality.

Now that you know WHAT you want to say in your video, it's time to film it. Any camera will do...as long as it's HD quality. In fact, the iPhone 5s (or higher) is a fantastic option for the DIY videographer! Get the necessary equipment, (tripod, lighting, etc) and you are ready to make your video.

It will save sooo much time and money!

The next step is to edit your original footage. The software I recommend is Screenflow (Mac only). If you're on a PC, I recommend Sony Vegas or Camtasia. Editing is ery time-consuming, so if you can: outsource the editing! It will save sooo much time and money!

Step #5: Broadcast it!

Now it's time for the exciting part...broadcasting your video! This most likely means you'll be posting your video to YouTube.com. But the real magic in using YouTube is in HOW you optimize your videos to get ranked and viewed.

ake the time to give your youtube video a proper title, description and tags so you optimize it for a highly searched keyword or keyword phrase.

And the final step: REPEAT. Having just one video out there for the world to see is NEVER enough. The more the better. This way, more people have more of a chance to find you within YouTube and Google. So, consistency is the key.

Get to work!
